Learn to create your own pair of wool sheepskin “Cabin Slippers”! In this 4 hour workshop, you will learn how to make a pair of handmade wool sheepskin (AKA shearling) slippers from start to finish. No previous experience is necessary, and we will provide all materials and supplies.
You will start by choosing your sheepskin colors, then we will trace and cut out our patterns, cut a durable leather sole, add a foam midsole, hammer the stitching holes into the pattern pieces, and hand-stitch them together to assemble the slippers.
Last but not least, you will have the option to add a collage of colorful shearling on top of your slippers. This part is optional; you can also leave your slippers unadorned if you want to keep it minimal! You’ll leave with a pair of handmade, customized, super warm slippers that will last through many chilly seasons.
About Cabin Slippers: Stace Fulwiler Wood started making Cabin Slippers in 2020 and they quickly developed a cult following. The wool shearling keeps your feet warm when walking on chilly floors, while the sleek shape and bright colors bring an extra spark of joy when you wear them around the house. They also make great gifts, so if you feel ambitious, you could make these for someone special on your gift list.
This workshop is beginner-friendly. We will be using sharp scissors to cut out our patterns, and a hammer, and small metal hand tools, so you’ll need to be comfortable gripping tools, hammering, and hand-stitching.
